Handloom Woven Textiles
The majority of our textiles are handloom woven — a slow, skilled process that brings a unique richness and depth to the fabric. While this might suggest a need for delicate handling (and they are, in their own way, delicate), these textiles are also surprisingly robust and made to be worn and enjoyed. You might notice small irregularities in the weave — slubs, shifts, or gentle inconsistencies — which are not flaws but rather natural characteristics of handwoven cloth. They speak to the human hands that made them and are part of what makes each piece subtly one of a kind.
Natural Dyes
We often work with natural dyes — a choice rooted in care. Care for the environment, for the people who handle our fabrics, for the waterways surrounding our dye houses, and for you, the final wearer. Unlike synthetic dyes, natural colour is alive: made using plant-based ingredients like pomegranate skins, indigo leaves, and turmeric root. These dyes are non-toxic, biodegradable, and safe at every stage of a garment’s life.
But they’re also beautifully sensitive. Natural dyes shift and soften over time — evolving with wear, washing, and exposure to light. We see this as part of their charm: a kind of gentle patina that tells the story of how a garment is worn and loved. We encourage care and a little extra attention to help preserve the integrity of these colours, while also embracing the slow, subtle transformations that come with time.
Care Guide
We make our garments to be lived in and loved for years — and like anything precious, they’ll last longer with a little care.
Washing
The most gentle and garment-loving way to wash our pieces is by hand in cool water with a mild, pH-neutral soap. This helps avoid shrinkage, preserves the shape, and protects natural fibres and dyes.
That said, we also understand that life is busy — and most of our care labels will advise a cool, gentle machine wash (ideally inside out and in a laundry bag). Just skip the tumble dryer. Air dry flat or on a line instead.
If you want to be extra cautious or if the piece is especially delicate, hand wash is the way to go.
Other Tips
Avoid harsh detergents, bleaches, and fabric softeners.
Iron on low heat if needed, or embrace the crumples — most of our fabrics wear them well.
Store folded rather than hanging if the garment is heavy or stretchy to avoid misshaping.
Any garments with tie details — tie the strings loosely before machine washing to avoid tangling or detaching during the spin cycle.
If in doubt, treat your garment like you would a favourite book: keep it clean, keep it dry, and handle it with care.
